Acacia is a genus of shrubs and trees belonging to the Fabaceae family, although also known with the name of «acacia» to many leguminous trees of other genres. There are about 1,400 species accepted, of the more than 2,700 described in the world.2 some 970 belong to the genus Acacia stricto sensu, of which 950 are from Australia.
